Event Overview
The 2015 Event is now the White Oak Wellness and Environmental Expo (WOWEE!) Go to http://whiteoakexpo.com/ to learn more!
This community event is being sponsored White Oak Elementary School as a fundraiser for the White Oak Outdoor Classroom and Garden and
the Environmental Education Committee. This event will also be a community recycling day as electronics recycling will be available and we are trying to get document shredding as well. Local businesses and environmental non-profits will be present to highlight their environmentally friendly practices and programs. Schools in the Lanier Cluster will also be adding to the event by leading kid-friendly activities and hosting fundraisers for their clubs and teams with an environmental theme.
Trash to Treasure Community Yard Sale
The yard sale will emphasize the importance of reusing
items rather than throwing them away, which adds to our local
landfills. Recognizing Earth Day will help inform the community of the
importance of environmental education and awareness. The yard sale
will be open to the entire community and marketed in local papers as
well as through all of the schools in the Lanier cluster. Sellers can purchase spaces for $20 to sell gently used and unwanted items (household items, clothing, toys, small furniture) which may be treasure for someone else! For more details about the yard sale and how to participate click here.
Earth Day Celebration
Environmentally conscious for-profit vendors can purchase spaces for $60 to market their environmentally friendly products and promote their activities. Environmental non-profits are encouraged to participate at no charge to educate the community about their efforts to promote environmental stewardship and conservation. Student groups from the Lanier Cluster are also encouraged to participate at no charge to help create a family-friendly and fun environment with an Earth Day theme. Activities such as face-painting, crazy hair, carnival games, and bake sales with an earth day theme can help clubs and teams raise money while adding to the fun of this community event.
