THANK YOU TO OUR EVENT SPONSORS
Jim Ellis Chevrolet
Jim Ellis Chevrolet will bring the Volt to show the public at the Earth Day event.
The Volt is a plug-in electric car with a gasoline
range extender. Technically, it is not a hybrid since the Volt's electric
motor is the only source of power to the drive wheels. Once the batteries are
depleted - 30-40 miles on a single charge - the gas engine turns on and drives a
generator that powers the electric motor. Jim Ellis
Chevrolet's demonstration Volt has been plugged in at home (30 miles from the
dealership) at night and then during the day at the dealership. The result is
less than five gallons needed to go about 1,000 miles!
Jim Ellis purchased the demonstration
Volt in Long Island, NY and drove it back - 917 miles - in 19 hours, stopping
only once to replenish the gas! Chevy introduced the Volt in limited markets at the end of last year and will be available in the Southeast later this
year. You can see the Volt at the Jim Ellis dealership or on Earth Day in Sugar Hill. They might also bring the Spark and other eco-friendly cars from their dealership.
